Candidatures of Latvia

Broader representation in the international organizations is a prerequisite for the implementation of interests of Latvia’s foreign policy. Currently Latvia has presented several candidatures in the elections of international organizations. 

  • Latvia has presented its candidature to the Human Rights Council for the term 2015-2017 at the elections to be held in 2014.
  • Latvia has presented its candidature to the Statistical Commission for the term 2016-2019 at the elections to be held in 2015.

  • Latvia has presented its candidature to the non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council for the term 2026-2027 at the elections in 2025.

Latvia has presented its candidatures to the following UNESCO bodies:

  • Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the term 2012-2014 at the elections to be held in 2012;
  • World Heritage Committee for the term 2013-2017 at the elections to be held in 2013;
  • Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrological Programme for the term 2013-2017 at the elections to be held in 2013.
