Latvia's candidacies in international organizations- Latvia has presented its candidature to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) for the term 2010 - 2013, at the elections to be held in 2009.
- Latvia has announced its candidature to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) elections for 2011-2013.
The elections will be held in 2010 in New York, during the 65th Session of General Assembly. Latvia was a member of ECOSOC from 1997 to 1999.
By announcing its candidature to the ECOSOC elections Latvia wants to strengthen it's involvement into the international decision making process and to extend it's national policy and expertise in ECOSOC related issues.
