Secretary of State Teikmanis to contribute to discussion at 7th Yalta Annual Meeting
The Foreign Ministry Secretary of State Andris Teikmanis will take part in the Seventh Yalta Annual Meeting Ukraine and the World: Re-Thinking and Moving On to be held from 30 September to 2 October in Yalta, Ukraine.
The event will be opened by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich. The agenda for discussions includes the topics related to the consequences of the Global economic crisis, the process of global warming, future perspectives for Europe, Ukraine's place in the new world order, and future perspectives for Ukraine. The Yalta Meeting is convened by an international organisation Yalta European Strategy (YES), the aim of which is to promote the development of a just, democratic and prosperous Ukraine, to assist the country with the reform implementation, and to support its euro-atlantic aspirations. The event, held since 2004, has brought together leading representatives of the Ukrainian and the world business community and intellectuals, researchers and journalists, such as Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Leonid Kuchma, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Joschka Fischer, Victor Yushchenko, and Viktor Yanukovich. Latvia supports the enhancement of the EU-Ukraine relations and the development of political and economic co-operation.
