A.Teikmanis: Baltic-American Freedom Foundation is proof of U.S. interest in Baltic region
On 21 September, a delegation of the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF) met with the Foreign Ministry Secretary of State Andris Teikmanis. Mr Teikmanis expressed satisfaction about the launching of the Foundation's activities that can be regarded as a practical U.S. contribution to enhancing competitiveness and growth in the Baltic states, as well as interest on the part of the U.S. Government in a sustainable development of the region.
The Chairman of the Foundation Rozanne L. Ridgway and its President Kim Davis told that applicants' motivation for applying in Latvia the knowledge acquired in the United States will be among the main criteria for awarding a BAFF scholarship. The participants of the meeting discussed the operating principles of the Foundation that provide opportunities to attend U.S. universities and intern U.S. companies on the grounds of competition and also the applicants' professional and academic experience.
