Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins and Secretary of State for European Affairs of France to discuss co-operation within EU and NATO

On 25 February Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will meet with the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Pierre Lellouche, in order to discuss bilateral relations between Latvia and France, as well as co-operation within the context of EU and NATO.

In view of the matters within the competence of Mr Lellouche, the parties will Exchange opinions on the economic and financial situation in Europe, the formation of the European External Action Service, relations with neighboring countries and other topics. It is expected that ministers will discuss also the organisation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Riga.

Currently, Mr Lellouche is head of the delegation of French parliamentarians to NATO, and before taking office as Secretary of State for European Affairs, he was also the president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (2004-2006) and French Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (2009).

From 24 to 26 February, the Secretary of State for European Affairs of France will visit all three Baltic states in order to meet with foreign ministers and to discuss topical issues related to the European Union and international politics.
