The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites students to apply for participating in the Job Shadow Day on 17 February that will provide an excellent opportunity of having a close-up look at the diplomats' work and learning about the activities of Latvia's foreign service.

This year, the Foreign Ministry staff intends to become job shadow mentors for at least 15 young people. Students are invited for job shadowing at the Office of Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins, the State Protocol, the Consular Department, the EU Co-ordination Department and the Economic Relations and Development Co-operation Policy Department. Young achievers, having an opportunity to shadow the Head of the European Union Directorate, the Press Secretary or the Head of the Planning Group will be able to spend an unforgettable work day in the company of an Ambassador. Young people will also be readily received by diplomats from the Press and Information Division, the Americas and Caribbean Countries Division, and the Asia, Africa and Oceania Division.

All those interested in the job shadowing of Foreign Ministry staff may register at www.enudiena.lv, before 12 February by applying for "vacancies" which the Foreign Ministry has offered.

The Job Shadow Day has been organised by the association "Junior Achievement" for ten consecutive years. The event, dedicated to students' career education, has gained recognition and wide-scale response throughout the world and provides young people with firsthand experience in various occupations and sectors, helping youth to adequately prepare for their future careers.
