Latvian Ambassadors' meeting to discuss Latvia's economic development perspective [23 Aug 2010] |

On 24-25 August, the Foreign Ministry hold the annual working meeting of the Ambassadors of Latvia. The heads of Latvia's diplomatic missions have been invited to evaluate the work accomplished during the year and to discuss further tasks of the foreign service. The meeting will be opened by the Foreign Minister Aivis Ronis, and President Valdis Zatlers and Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will address the ambassadors. The programme of the meeting includes Latvia's priorities within the foreign policy of the European Union and in the context of international events and processes in NATO, as well as the current topics of economic relations and export promotion. The international relations agenda includes a questions and answers session with the representative of the Council of the European Union Helga Schmid and NATO Assistant Secretary General Dirk Brengelmann. During the part of the meeting devoted to economic matters, moderated by the Foreign Ministry advisor on economic matters Ģirts Rungainis, the ambassadors and representatives from political parties will evaluate Latvia's economy and discuss development perspectives. The Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Andris Ozols will inform the ambassadors about the agency's efforts in attracting investments, and its co-operation with the Foreign Ministry and Latvia's embassies abroad.
