Opportunity to study at Latvian higher education institution with Latvian Welfare Fund scholarship

In order to give the opportunity to study and acquire a European standard of higher education in Latvia, the Latvian Welfare Fund of England, the Foreign Ministry, and the Vitols Fund have established a special scholarship fund for fellow Latvians living in Siberia and South America, who should wish to study at an accredited Latvian tertiary institution. The Latvian Welfare Fund offers a non-refundable scholarship of LVL 1,400 a year for covering costs associated with studying and, in particular case of need, a non-refundable scholarship for the purpose of improving knowledge of the Latvian language for a year before the commencement of studies.    

Candidates who will finish secondary school in spring 2008 or who have already finished secondary school and plan to study in Latvia are eligible for the scholarship. Knowledge of Latvian is a must. Candidates must submit to the Fund:

• CV,
• completed form,
• document showing educational qualification (a school report for the 1^st semester of the final school year, or a copy of the diploma),
• letter of recommendation.
