On 25 June 2008, Andris Razans, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia presented his credentials to Latifa Akherbach, Secretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The accreditation of Ambassador Razans is a significant step in the strengthening of relations between the Republic of Latvia and the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as an additional impetus to the development of Latvia's relations with the Arab world.

In July in Riga, political consultations between the Secretaries of State of the Foreign Ministries of Latvia and of Morocco are to be held with the purpose of reviewing the bilateral relations between both countries and their co-operation within a shorter and longer timeframe. During the consultations, topical issues on the regional and global scale will also be debated.

Mr Andris Azans is concurrently an Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Kingdom of Denmark, with residence in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Also residing in Copenhagen is Aicha El Kabbaj, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, accredited to the Republic of Latvia.
