On 4 July, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins sent a congratulatory letter to Condoleezza Rice, the U.S. Secretary of State, in honour of the 232nd anniversary of the independence of the U.S. In his letter, Minister Riekstins highlights Latvia's friendly relations with the U.S. and the successful co-operation as part of bilateral and transatlantic dialogue, as well as expresses readiness to work together with the U.S. in promoting democracy and solving key problems in the world.
