Five Ambassadors to meet Foreign Minister Riekstins at farewell luncheon [01 Jul 2008]

On 2 July, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will meet with the Ambassadors of five countries whose term of office in Latvia is about to expire in the near future. Taking part in a luncheon with the Foreign Minister are: Arnold Christian de Fine Skibsted, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark; Göran Håkansson, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden; Pekka Wuoristo, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland; Eberhard Schuppius, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany; as well as  Christian Verdonck, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium.

During the farewell meeting, Foreign Minister Riekstins will express his gratitude to the Ambassadors for their contribution to the strengthening and advancement of the relations between their countries and Latvia. "During the term in office of each Ambassador, various projects have taken place both on the political agenda and in the field of culture and economy which made a major contribution to the formation of relations between the countries in a long-term perspective," notes the Foreign Minister.  

At the meeting Minister Riekstins intends to discuss with the Ambassadors current international developments, including the ratification process of the Lisbon Treaty following the Irish referendum, the priorities of the EU French Presidency, as well as co-operation within regional and bilateral formats.
