Latvian animated film "Lote from the Village of Inventors" screened at Baltic Film Festival in Ottawa
From 15 to 18 March 2007, Ottawa will be the location for the seventh Baltic Film Festival in Canada. This year Latvia will present the Latvian-Estonian joint production of the full-length animated film Lote from the Village of Inventors.
After being presented to the public of Ottawa, the film will be further shown to audiences in Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and Vancouver.
The festival will open with the Estonian film Fed up!, which will be followed by the Lithuanian film Anastasia. Viewers will have the opportunity to follow the adventures of Lote at the close of the festival.
As part of the film festival, the Baltic embassies have also prepared an exhibition about tourism opportunities in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
The event has been organized in co-operation with the Canadian Film Institute and the Baltic embassies in Ottawa with financial support of the Secretariat of the Latvian Special Assignments Minister for Social Integration. The Latvian Embassy provided support in preparing English subtitles for the Latvian film.
The creator of the idea and founder/director of the Baltic Film Festival is Mr Andris Kesteris, an audiovisual archives of Canada expert and an active participant in the life of the local Latvian community.
The Latvian Embassy in Canada expresses its appreciation to the National Film Centre of Latvia and the film studio Rija for their contribution to the screening of the Latvian film in Canada.
