Presentation of Latvian films in France [22 Jun 2005] |

From 23 June to 3 July 2005, the AYE AYE FILM FESTIVAL (www.ayeaye-vo.com) is taking place in the city of Nancy, France. A number of Latvian documentary and art films will be screened at the festival – "Ten minutes older" and "The Last Judgment" by Herz Frank, "Python" and "Papa Gena" by Laila Pakalnina, "Keep smiling" by Askolds Saulitis, "Merry Christmas, Daudz laimes" by Aija Bley, and two animation film programmes – "Trophy" by Karlis Vitols and animated cartoons made in the animation studios "Rija" and "Animacijas Brigade". The animation film "Insomnia" by Vladimir Leschiov has been nominated for the festival's competition. On July 2 the Latvian Film Day will be held, during which the Latvian films are to be demonstrated with short lectures on the history and culture of Latvia delivered by the professor of history at the University of Nancy, Didier Francfort, and Renate Babre, a Latvian who was involved in organizing the festival with the support of the European Union programme. The Ambassador of Latvia to France, Rolands Lappuke, is also planning to take part in the Latvian Film Day. As part of the AYE AYE FILM FESTIVAL, a youth culture forum will be held.
