Minister of Foreign Affairs expresses condolences to families of perished fishermen [13 May 2004]

The Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Rihards Piks expresses his condolences to families and relatives of the fishermen who died in the shipwreck of the fishing vessel "Astrida", and confirms that the Latvian Embassy in Sweden will take the necessary steps to transport the mortal remains of "Astrida" crew to Latvia as soon as possible.

The Ministry informs that the Latvian Embassy in Sweden helps coordinating the activities of Latvian and Swedish emergency services to foster investigation of the cause of the shipwreck and delivery of mortal remains of the vessel's crew to Latvia.
