The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs meets the Chairman of the U.S. Committee on NATO [30 May 2001]

On 29 May 2001 the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Mr Maris Riekstins had a meeting with the Chairman of the U.S. Committee on NATO Mr Bruce Jackson. During the meeting development of the debate on the enlargement of NATO was discussed. The State Secretary acquainted the U.S. representative with Latvia's achievements on the way to NATO membership and discussed measures that should be taken in order to strengthen support to the enlargement of NATO in the USA and other NATO countries.

Today, on 30 May 2001, Mr Jackson will meet the Minister of Defence, participate in the meeting of the NATO Integration Council and address the participants of LATO (Latvian Transatlantic Organisation) conference. The U.S. Committee on NATO headed by Mr Bruce Jackson is an influential non-governmental organisation in support of the enlargement of NATO.
