The outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), H.E. Joon-hee Lee, bade farewell to President Valdis Zatlers at Riga Castle today.

The President thanked the Ambassador for his work in strengthening and diversifying the relations between Latvia and South Korea, especially underscoring the Ambassador's successful efforts in expanding bilateral relations between both countries. They discussed current affairs in South Korea and the region.

The Ambassador and President Zatlers also spoke about the possibilities for the further development of ties between Korea and Latvia, especially economic ties. Trade between the two countries has increased significantly in recent years. They also discussed relations at a multilateral level, including Korea's cooperation with the European Union.
