A residence permit is necessary if a foreigner is willing to reside in the Republic of Latvia for a period of time exceeding 90 days within half a year counting from the first day of entrance.

A residence permit is issued by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Latvia (OCMA). Documents to the OCMA can be submitted through the Embassy of Latvia in London.

Processing times and fees for residence permits if foreigner applies through the Embassy of Latvia in London:

  • during 6 weeks - £130
  • during 4 weeks - £265
  • during 3 weeks - £330


There are special residence permit document processing fees for the spouses of the citizens of Latvia, non-citizens of Latvia and foreigners holding a permanent residence permit, their minor children, pupils and students of educational establishments or full time students:

  • during 6 weeks - £105
  • during 4 weeks - £240
  • during 3 weeks - £305


Documents required when applying for a residence permit visa when applicant has received positive answer for residence permit from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs:

  • Visa application form completed and signed by the applicant.
  • Valid passport.
  • 1 size colour photo (35mmx45mm).
  • Travel medical Insurance for 10 days.
  • 55 GBP
