A residence permit is a document providing a foreigner the rights to reside in the Republic of Latvia for a definite period of time (a temporary residence permit) or permanently (a permanent residence permit).
A residence permit is necessary if a foreigner is willing to reside in the Republic of Latvia for a period of time exceeding 90 days within half a year counting from the first day of entrance.
Processing times and fees for residence permits if foreigner applies through the Embassy of Latvia in London:
during 6 weeks - £114 (£80 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
during 4 weeks - £224 (£190 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
during 3 weeks - £274 (£240 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
There are special residence permit document processing fees for the spouses of the citizens of Latvia, non-citizens of Latvia and foreigners holding a permanent residence permit, their minor children and pupils and students of educational establishments or full time students:
during 6 weeks - £89 (£55 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
during 4 weeks - £174 (£140 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
during 3 weeks - £254 (£220 – state duty, £34 – consular duty)
