A festival of Russian films will be held in Riga from 2 September to 6 October, introducing the latest Russian films to a Latvian audience. The festival will take place at the same time as the 'Lielais Kristaps' Latvian National Film Festival, allowing audiences to compare artistic developments in the cinema of both neighbouring countries. Among the films to be screened at the festival is "Father and Son", directed by Alexander Sokurov, which premiered at the Festival de Cannes in 2003, as well as the most recent works by the renowned Russian film directors Sergey Solovyov, Sergey Nikonenko, Stanislav Govoruhin and Alexey Uchitel. Many directors and actors, such as Alexander Sokurov, Alexey Uchitel and the actors Oleg Yankovsky and Inna Churikova have confirmed that they will be attending the Festival.
The Festival has organised by the company Alexander Studio Group in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
