Republic of Latvia – 90!
 On 17 November, 1918, representatives of Latvian political parties gathered together in Riga to establish [a provisional parliament], the People's Council. On the following day, 18 November at 4 pm, the independent Republic of Latvia was solemnly proclaimed at the National Theatre of Latvia. (This was the Second City Theatre of Riga at that time).
Latvia celebrates its Independence Day on 18 November. To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia in 2008, numerous events will be organized throughout the year, also in Finland.
