Accession Negotiations

Latvia's Accession to the EU

14.02.2003

On December 13, 2002 at the European Council in Copenhagen Latvia officially concluded accession negotiations with the European Union, together with nine other EU candidate countries. It took two years of intensive work for Latvia to complete the negotiations, seeking to achieve the best possible provisions for its membership in the European Union. Through the joint efforts of government and business representatives, very good overall results were achieved.
