An Extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council Meeting to be Held on 15 August

On 15 August, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs will take part in an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. The meeting has been convened due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Iraq, and the ministers will discuss the European Union’s further engagement in the Iraqi crisis issue.

The Cabinet of Ministers approves change of competent authority following reallocation of functions between the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Cabinet of Ministers on its meeting on 5 August has approved amendments to legislation related to the representation of Latvia’s interests at the World Trade Organisation and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in view of the transfer of tasks in the foreign economic policy sector from the Ministry of Economics to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
