Foreign Minister Rinkēvičs : “A Common Understanding Should be Reached on Strengthening of a Common Energy Market”

On 21 October, the EU General Affairs Council convened for a meeting in Luxembourg. The central item on its agenda was preparation for the European Council meeting on 23-24 October. The Ministers also had a thematic debate on “Europe of Freedom, Security and Justice”, one of the priorities of the EU's strategic agenda.

Edgars Rinkēvičs Calls for Clearer and Stronger EU Support for Eastern Partnership Countries

On 20 October in Luxembourg, the EU Foreign Affairs Council gathered for a meeting at which the ministers debated the course of action to contain the outbreak of the Ebola virus, discussed the current developments in Libya, Iraq and the Middle East, and agreed on the establishment of the EU advisory mission in Ukraine. The Latvian delegation at the Foreign Affairs Council was led by the Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs.

Latvian Foreign Minister Rinkēvičs to Hold a Meeting of the “Friends of Georgia”

On 20 and 21 October, the meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council will take place in Luxembourg. On 20 October, in the margins of the Foreign Affairs Council, the Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs will convene a meeting of the “Friends of Georgia” with the participation of the Foreign Minister of Georgia, Maia Panjikidze; the Deputy Foreign Minister, Tamar Beruchashvili; Foreign Ministers from the European Union member states; and representatives from the European External Action Service.
