On 1 September, the Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs took part in the meeting of the EU ministers’ Group for the European Action of Moldova [Le Groupe pour l'Action Européenne de la République de Moldova], which was held in Chisinau, Moldova. The ministers voiced strong support for Moldova's aspirations of integration with the European Union and discussed putting into practice the EU-Moldova Association Agreement signed on 27 June.
On 1 September, the National Activity Plan for the next European Year was submitted to the European Commission Representation. The year 2015 has been designated as the European Year for Development, and the theme of development cooperation will be highlighted. The programme was prepared by the Latvian Foreign Ministry and the association, “Latvia’s Platform for Development Cooperation” (Latvijas platforma attīstības sadarbībai), involving representatives from non-governmental organisations and the public and private sector. The Foreign Ministry appreciates the keen interest from organisations and institutions and their active participation in drafting the programme. The Foreign Ministry also called for further close cooperation in the process of implementing the programme.
The Foreign Minister of Latvia to Take Part in the Meeting of the Group of EU Ministers Supporting Moldova’s European Integration
On 1 September in Chisinau, Moldova, Edgars Rinkēvičs, the Latvian Foreign Minister, will take part in a meeting the European Action Group for Moldova - an informal group of EU Ministers supporting Moldova’s European integration.
