To request documents from Latvia

If you wish to obtain an official document issued in Latvia, for example birth, marriage, death certificate, you must fill out a request form (available also at the Embassy) in duplicate and submit it in 2 copies to the Embassy, along with payment for the processing. A passport or identity card must be presented to prove person's identity.

 

The consular processing fee is 15,-EUR per document requested. Additional consular fee in amount of 45,-EUR shall be paid for transmission of full set of documents to Latvia.

There is an additional archive fee if documents are requested from Latvian archives.

 

Please note: the Embassy cannot take responsibility for information submitted on the forms, and notes that the processing fee is non-refundable, even in the event that the document requested from Latvia is not available. 

 

If you are submitting a request for a document regarding criminal records in Latvia, or lack thereof, you should personally submit a special form to the Embassy. 

Total fee for a document regarding criminal records, issued within approximately 6-7 working days, is 25,-EUR.

Total fee for a document regarding criminal records, issued within approximately 2-3 working days, is 55,-EUR.

If you wish to receive such document with a signature and stamp of official of the Ministry of Interior (for example, for further certification of its authenticity / legalisation at the Ministry of Foreing Affairs of Latvia), total fee is 55,-EUR. Document is available within approximately 4 weeks.

N.B: when filling out the request form, please read the form carefully and complete only the sections related to the document you are requesting, and the person for whom you are making the request. After completion of the form, to print it out, click "Print" at the bottom on the left. To print the form adequately please verify margins set in the Browser. It can be done by selecting "Page setup" from "File" menu. Verify margins before printing under "Margins". All margins should be 19.05". Verify if "Orientation" under "Paper size" is vertical - "Portrait".
