Final Protocol of Latvia-Belarus state border demarcation be signed [05 Nov 2008]
The Final Protocol of the Latvia-Belarus state border demarcation is to be signed on 6 November in Riga, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The signing of this document will formally end the process of determining the border between Latvia and Belarus which has lasted for more than ten years.
Communication by Foreign Ministry of Latvia on parliamentary elections in Belarus [02 Oct 2008]
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on basis of the preliminary statement by the international observer mission of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, considers that, in comparison to the parliamentary elections of 2004 and 2006, certain improvements have been observed in the process of the 28 September parliamentary elections in Belarus.
Representatives from Latvia to take part in observation of parliamentary elections in Belarus [26 Sep 2008]
On 28 September, parliamentary elections will take place in Belarus. Among the observers there will be a total of 15 representatives from Latvia. The Latvian observers will take part in the observation of the parliamentary elections in Belarus both as part of the international election observation mission and also as national observers.

On 15 September a meeting of the European Union General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) took place in Brussels. The Latvian delegation was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Riekstins.
The Presidency on behalf of the European Union issues the declaration concerning the release of political prisoners in Belarus [26 Aug 2008]
The Presidency in its declaration issued on August 25 on behalf of the European Union welcomes the release of the two remaining political prisoners on the EU's list, Mr Sergei Parsiukevich and Mr Andrei Kim, by the Belarusian authorities on 20 August.
Consultations held between Latvian and Belarusian Foreign Ministries [28 May 2008]
On 28 May, consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Belarus were held in Riga. The Latvian delegation was headed by the Foreign Ministry's Under-Secretary of State, Edgars Skuja, and the Belarusian delegation by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Valery Voronecky.

On 29 February an agreement between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus On co-operation in the field of social security was signed in Minsk.
Inter-governmental agreement to ease travel to Belarus for residents of Latvia [05 Feb 2008]
On 5 February, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Regulations On the Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on mutual travel of residents, which envisage certain advantages for residents of Latvia who travel to Belarus.
CIS regional communities to be briefed on Latvia's accession to Schengen Treaty [28 Nov 2007]
On 29 November at the Minsk Hotel in Minsk, Belarus, the first briefing will be held for CIS regional media, tourism companies and tour operators with regard to the planned 21 December accession by Latvia to the Schengen Treaty.

Belarus organizes tourism seminar-presentation on Latvia: Tourism Opportunities for Summer and Future Prospects [13 Apr 2007]
On 12 April 2007, Latvian Ambassador to Belarus, Maira Moora, opened the tourism seminar-presentation Latvia: Tourism Opportunities for Summer and Future Prospects. It was organised by the Latvian Tourism Development Agency, in conjunction with the Embassy.
Foreign Ministry discusses pollution of Daugava in consultations with Belarus [04 Apr 2007]
On 3 April 2007, consultations between the foreign ministries of Latvia and Belarus were held in Minsk. The parties discussed issues related to the pollution of the river Daugava. The Under-Secretary of State, Edgars Skuja, advised the Belarusian representatives about the evaluation of the damage caused by the pollution and about the readiness of Latvia to claim compensation.

Foreign Minister to advise his EU colleagues about pollution of Daugava [30 Mar 2007]
At the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in the German city of Bremen, Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks will discuss issue of the pollution of the Daugava with his European counterparts. The Latvian Ambassador to Belarus, Maira Mora, will contact the Governor of Vitebsk, Vladimir Andrejchenko, in order to find out how the above mentioned breakdown happened and what the present situation is.
