IOM OFFICE IN RIGA
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) does not belong to the UN system, however is closely affiliated to it. IOM opened office in Latvia in 1998. IOM aims are to ensure that the migration flows are managed and settlement and integration of the re-settlers in the economic and social structure of the recipient country are facilitated; to promote co-operation among the states and international organisations, public institutions and NGOs in migration issues and consultations not only about the process of migration, but also about the specific situation and needs of the re-settlers as individuals.
