Transfer of Latvian reform experience to Moldova discussed at Latvia-Moldova foreign ministry consultations [14 Jan 2009]
On 13 January at political consultations between the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration the parties examined in detail the assistance already provided by Latvia for Moldova's efforts in implementing reforms in relation to European integration. The sides reviewed future steps for the transfer of Latvia's reform experience to Moldova. Read more
Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins expresses regret about non-extension of OSCE mandate in Georgia [23 Dec 2008]
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia notes with regret that on 22 December the member countries of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) failed to reach an agreement regarding an extension of the OSCE mission in Georgia. Read more
Representatives from Foreign Ministry and U.S. National Democratic Institute discuss co-operation opportunities [09 Dec 2008]
On 9 December, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Teikmanis, political director Peteris Ustubs, and Under-Secretary of State, Maija Manika, met with Laura Jewett, Regional Director for Eurasia of the U.S. National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI), and the institute's regional directors from Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus and Russia. Also taking part in the meeting were other representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the Saeima and non-governmental organisations. Read more
NATO foreign ministers agree on the increase of NATO-Georgia and NATO-Ukraine commission activity as a mechanism of support for Euro-Atlantic integration [03 Dec 2008]
On 2 and 3 December the NATO Foreign Ministers meeting took place in Brussels. During the meeting, ministers exchanged views on the prospects for the Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia and Ukraine, NATO relations with the Russian Federation and international operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo. There was also a meeting between the Alliance and representatives of Mediterranean Dialogue countries. Read more
Foreign Ministry shares experience with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova [25 Nov 2008]
On 25 November representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova arrived on a study visit to Latvia. The purpose of the visit is to share with Moldovan representatives Latvia's experience of EU integration. Read more
