A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Russia [05 Apr 2002]

From 8 to 12 April 2002 a visit of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia to the Russian Federation is planned to take place. Within the framework of the visit the Latvian delegation intends to visit Pskov, St. Petersburg and Moscow.

The Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr Martins Virsis will be the head of the delegation. The goal of the visit is to meet officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, representatives of the authorities of Pskov and St. Petersburg cities and regions, individual politicians, experts of political sciences, etc., in order to discuss topical issues related to co-operation between Latvia and Russia.

In the course of the meetings the parties intend to touch on issues of bilateral and regional co-operation, including the development of the legal basis, cross-border and economic co-operation, improvement of the border-crossing procedures and border infrastructure.
